Be with me?

Art- Ashvin Harrison, Brisbane, World In Her Mind, 2022

Be with me?
Quietly.
Sit amid the cacophony.

Here, now,
in the roundabout,
out in the island where the sounds are loud.

See the sky one final time
then breathe in deeply
and close your eyes.

Hear the racket?…
capture it all,
all the startling braying brawl.

Then begin
to winnow it down;
sift the various layers of sound.

Find each ply and set it aside.
Slowly though,
bide your time…

The traffic
and engines of industry,
planes overhead and steamers at sea.

Quacks cackles rattles coos
squawks gobbles honks hoots
warbles whistles twitters trills
tweets and screeches, shrieks and peals.
Hums buzzes grunts growls
moos mews barks howls
whines winnies hisses and squeaks
chortles and roars and snorts and bleats.

Blistering blizzards and
whistling gales,
like memories meanly keening and wailing.

Grumbling thunder,
rat-a-tat rain,
the flutter a falling snowflake makes.

Every comment being said,
(including the cruel ones
in your head.)

The River of Time
whispering past,
reminding us nothing really lasts.

From the hum
of the blood in your veins
to the Big Bang microwaves in space,

lock ‘em all up in a box with a bow
till the silence is total…
except for one note.

That’s your vibration,
that’s who you are,
your energy since the beginning of stars.

You’ll recognize it
before too long,
from all your childhood favorite songs,

from nature places
that bring you ease,
and the souls of your chosen family.

Tuck it away
in a locket or charm
to wear on your finger, or neck, or arm.

Open it up
when you’re keen to sing
your part in the Chorus of Everything!

Remember your box-with-the-bow
on the shelf
when you’d like to be quietly by yourself.

Science has shown,
(finally),
we don’t see most of reality.

Let’s listen more, and let’s look less,
to filter the signal
and bare the essence.

Hippies and mystics
had it right all along,
it’s all vibration…cosmic song.
