When you breathe in fits

Art - George Frederick Watts, Hope, 1886

For each of us dealing with shaken foundations. Especially those affected by the earthquake in Syria, Turkey and extended families worldwide…

When you breathe in fits
from withering grief,

when crisis drives you low,
and you don’t know where to go
   or what to try
      or how to hide
or why you scream instead of sing,
            when tolerance is lost,
when all you taste is pain,
                  with solace far away
                  and optimism waning,

                        when misery remains
                        and faith
                        has drained away
                        from you…

                                              may hope renew.
